    Continuing in his grandfather's legacy in the building industry, James began his professional journey as an apprentice carpenter at the highly-esteemed Stonehenge Homes after leaving Scotch College. Stonehenge is a titan in the field, boasting over 60 state and national housing awards, including multiple prestigious accolades.

    JB HIFI

    Beginning with part-time stock duties at JB Hi-Fi, he quickly advanced to a full-time role in car audio. Initially confined to one location, he expanded to roles across various Victorian stores, honing his retail skills under industry experts. Today, JB Hi-Fi is among Australasia's top trusted retail giants.

    Dutton Sporting Cars

    Teaming up with his father, James gained diverse business insights, mastering negotiation techniques with elite clientele. Specialising in acquiring and selling classic and exotic cars and memorabilia, he also orchestrated high-profile events and sponsorships in the racing world.

    Dutton Motorsport

    James while racing launched Dutton Motorsport, transforming it into a winning racing team. While overseeing brand and business management, he worked closely with Dixon Mathew’s to manage team operations. Their racing accolades span from National Open Water Jet Ski Championships to the Carrera Cup 2003 and National Tarmac Rally series.

    Dutton Direct Publishing

    James established DuttonDirect.com, rapidly scaling it into a leading digital magazine for high-net-worth individuals. Offering bespoke events, products, and services, we became a go-to platform for the luxury market. His publishing network specialised in diverse media channels including online, print, events, and both social and traditional media services.

    James assisted Box Magazine in expanding its subscriber base nationally and enhancing its digital presence. Co-published with Troy Barbagallo, the magazine evolved into Australia's leading luxury lifestyle publication, supporting children's charities across the country. Known for its square shape and broad appeal, Box Magazine targets enthusiasts of luxury fashion, cars, yachts, architecture, travel, and more.

    Dutton Finance & Insurance

    in 2012 James founded Dutton Finance, providing specialised finance solutions for motor vehicles, marine assets, and equipment to business and private clients. Earning his finance certification, collaborating with numerous lenders, offering tailored finance and insurance products for new and used purchases from dealers. Eventually, he exited and sold this venture.

    Nutricare Holdings LIMITED

    In 2016, he founded Nutricare Holdings Limited, PATCH's parent, driving its growth. Successful capital-raising campaigns led us to international acclaim and awards. He established a top 50 workplace culture in our three global offices. Being ranked in the top 5% of global B Corporations and proudly won the 2019 Telstra Victorian Business of the Year.

    PATCH - Natural Wound Care

    In 2015, James Innovated PATCH Strips, a natural wound care line, and rapidly grew it into MULO America's second fastest-growing brand. He gained global recognition, notably at London Fashion Week with His Royal Highness, now King Charles. Focused on gentle skin solutions, by 2022, PATCH was in 43 countries and over 35,000 retailers.
